    Reconciliation / Confession

The Sacrament of Penance is also known as the ‘Sacrament of Reconciliation’ or traditionally called ‘Confession’. It is the rite by which sins are confessed and forgiven. Sin is failure to recognise and love God in the way we think or act. Sin is also not just a failure to love God directly but also a failure to love one another. This is referred to as “the community sense of sin”.

    God’s Mercy and Forgiveness

Through honest reflection and confession, Catholics are reconciled with God and the Church, and receive grace to grow spiritually.

When should I go to Confession? +

Catholics are encouraged to receive the Sacrament regularly, especially during Advent and Lent.

Is Confession only for serious sins? +

Confession can be received for both serious and lesser sins, helping to strengthen our relationship with God.

    Preparing for Confession +

Taking time for prayer and examination of conscience helps make the Sacrament a meaningful experience
