“A lawyer, to disconcert Jesus, put a question , ‘Master, which is the greatest commandment of the Law?’ Jesus said, ‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and the first commandment. The second resembles it: You must love your neighbour as yourself. On these two hang the whole Law and the Prophets also’.”
Matthew 22:35-40
Sacraments
Learn more about the sacraments and how we celebrate them in our parish community.
The Sacrament of Penance is also known as the ‘Sacrament of Reconciliation’ or traditionally called ‘Confession’. It is the rite by which sins are confessed and forgiven. Sin is failure to recognise and love God in the way we think or act. Sin is also not just a failure to love God directly but also a failure to love one another. This is referred to as “the community sense of sin”.

Loving God,
We give thanks for our parish community and for all who gather in faith.
Bless our clergy, parish teams, and all who serve.
Help us to grow in understanding, kindness, and unity,
and guide us always in the way of your love.
Amen.
God of peace,
We pray for peace in our world, in our communities, and in our hearts.
Help us to be instruments of your peace,
showing understanding where there is division
and hope where there is despair.
