    Receiving the Eucharist

First Holy Communion is a joyful milestone in a child’s faith journey, when they receive the Body and Blood of Christ for the first time.

The Eucharist is at the heart of Catholic life, strengthening our relationship with Christ and with one another as members of the Church.

    Why is preparation important? +

Preparation helps children understand the meaning of the Eucharist and develop a love for the Mass that will continue throughout their lives.

    Parish and family involvement +

Parents play a vital role in preparation by attending Mass regularly with their child and supporting prayer at home.

What happens on the day? +

First Holy Communion is celebrated during a parish Mass, with families and the wider parish community invited to attend.
